#BrandonLikesWings #2: Dalmatia Hotel - Riverside/Buffalo

Our next journey took us to the Black Rock/Riverside are to Dalmatia Hotel. If you are not greeted by the regulars as they smoke on the patio you will be greeted by a bunch sitting at the bar. If you're lucky you might be greeted by Prim. The cute little pug of the bartenders. Dalmatia hotel is a dive bar with locals spilling out the door. You can tell the people at the bar come here often. The atmosphere is friendly, the bartenders and cooks are so personable. They have music and TouchTunes if you're into that. Darts, pool, a bowling video game, and even offer Tarot card readings on Friday. Corn Hole tournaments on Wednesdays. 3 TV's. One with sports, and two with local channels. They offer popcorn and a wide menu of apps, and entrees. People of all ages frequent this bar. Cheap drinks and good food. The only draw back of my experience today was the door was open which made it breezy and the cigarette smoke from the patio came into the bar.

With all that said, this place is a lot of fun. The TouchTunes is full of good songs. Bartenders are very nice and always willing to throw you the occasional shot.
       When ordering wings you're presented a menu with 66 different flavors. Yes you heard that correctly, 66 different flavors. We decided to go with. Dalmatia Boom, Raspberry BBQ, Garlic Parm, Maple Bacon, and Medium. The Medium wing (crispy) will be our measuring ground for all the places we go to.
      The wings do take some time to come out. Dalmatia makes every sauce as the orders come in. The wings came out in the classic red and white paper tray with tin foil caressing the delicious 10 wings. Side paper trays are left at the table for the bones. Lets start from worst to first in regards to the flavors we ordered. The judges for Dalmatia were: Yours truly, my wife Elizabeth Siclari, Tim Sugure, Marty Finucane, and his wife Steph Finucane.
    Coming in last place. . . .Maple Bacon. It was basically chicken wings floating in syrup with bacon pieces scattered in the tray. I am not a "sweets guy" so I knew I would not like this flavor going into it. On a good note. Even though the wings were in syrup they still kept their crispiness. The syrup flavor did take over. I needed more bacon. If you  want a "breakfast" wing, try the maple bacon.
    4th place: Garlic Parm. I personally liked this wing. Im a huge Garlic Parm fan. Crispiness was there (you will see this trend), but I needed more garlic and parm. Wanting more of both flavors put the garlic parm in 4th place.
    3rd place: Medium. As I stated above we're comparing the Medium wing at every place. Medium coming in at 3rd shows how good the next to flavors were because I thought the medium was really good. Cooked perfectly. The main knock on the medium was everyone wanted more sauce. They're not a real saucy wing. The heat was perfect. Not to hot but still gave you a bit of a kick. If we went in and just tried the medium I would still leave satisfied.
    2nd place: Raspberry BBQ. Sweet spicy, barbecuey. Prefect blend of sweet raspberry with a bit of a kick and the end. Amazing wing. The color throws you back a bit. Deep red mahogany color. Sauced perfectly. Marty had this as his #1 wing, but Liz and I came in and out numbered Marty to make the next wing #1.

    1st Place. . . . . .. Dalmatia Boom. The reaction I had was "I have no idea what this flavor is but I like it"  Its a yellowish color with a perfect amount of sauce. Peppery, sweet, spicy. Overall, really good. Nobody that tried it had any idea what the flavor was. I asked the cook and was blown away with the answer because I would have never guessed that's what it was (I'm not telling what it is. I want you to try it and guess for yourself).

Garlic Parm: 5/10
Medium: 7/10
Raspberry BBQ: 7.5/10
Dalmatia Boom: 8.5/10


Recap: If you're looking for a place to kick back with some friends. Enjoy a fun atmosphere with cheap drinks. I HIGHLY recommend Dalmatia.
