*Best Bang for the Buck* bars to go to in Buffalo - By: Siclari / Sports

Image
If you want to go out with friends or go somewhere to watch sports. These bars are a great idea. I have said this multiple times, I hate paying $5 for any domestic beer, sadly that seems to be the trend lately.  In my travels I have come across some sweet spots to not only watch sports but to hang out with friends without spending $23 on an IPA and $10 for a Bud Light (exaggeration). In no particular order:   Adolfs Old First Ward Tavern The bar tenders are fantastic and friendly. Open space in the back with lots of room. When it is nice outside there is a back patio with cornhole. TouchTunes and dart board inside. Great selection of beers. Great Chicken Fingers.  Sports City Pizza Pub Thank you Sarah and Garret for suggesting we go here. Great selection of beers. Buckets specials. Amazing Stuffed Pepper Pizza. TONS of TV's. Untapped TV going for you to -Check In-. Main game will have sound on. Union Pub I will start by saying ...

First Ward Parade vs. Downtown Parade - St. Patrick's Day // By: Siclari

Image
Both have their pros and cons - I choose First Ward (its because I am old) Here we go again. Another year, another St. Patrick’s Day in Buffalo. The day everyone is Irish. Everyone wearing green, girls putting Four Leaf clovers on their cheeks.   Hundreds of 10 second Snap Chat videos. Before I dive into St. Patrick’s Day can I tell you one of the worst things ever? Snap Chats of concert, Parades, the shout song, really anything at a live event. Its annoying.   No one needs a selfie of you singing the shout song, scanning the crowd, we have all been there. No one needs a snap chat of a concert, we can’t see or hear anything on the video anyways, and no one needs a snap chat of a parade. manly because parades are dumb.                              OK, back to St. Patrick’s Day. Saturday you have Frist Ward/South Buffalo Parade and on Sunday you have the Down...

Standards - By: Marty Finucane / Sports

Worst fan in Buffalo gives us his opinion on the Buffalo Sabres “I need to be better.” “We weren’t ready to play.” “We need to play a full 60 minutes.” “We’ll learn from this.” These post game quotes, heard all too often from players and coaches both past and present, sum up pretty much my entire lifetime as a Buffalo Sabres fan. The players change, the coaches change, the GMs change, hell, the owners change – but the results have largely been the same. Mediocre to bad hockey. Why is that? How many times do we have to be told we are headed in the right direction before we actually reach our final destination? What is our final destination? Is it to be a perennial contender and win Stanley Cups, as Terry Pegula said in his introductory press conference some 8 years ago? Or is it to be competitive and play in meaningful games in the spring, as Jason Botterill has said on multiple occasions this year? Whatever the answer is, the Sabres have fallen woefully short of pretty much every...

I love and hate this city. Buffalo / By: Siclari - Random

I am not moving and will be here forever, but man does this city piss me off.          I love and hate this city. Buffalo. Yes, Brandon the die hard Sabres and Bills fan. Brandon the guy who lives downtown and makes a point to travel to as many new bars and breweries in the city and surrounding areas.             I have been living in downtown Buffalo since 2012. I figured that was the best place to be. I was 25 years old and wanted to be in the middle of everything. I moved to North Street, 1 block away from Allen. It was fun. Walking distance to a lot of bars. I had a rooftop patio overlooking the city. From there I moved 1 block right onto Allen, across the street from Brick Bar. Its an amazing thing when you can use your own bathroom while you go out on a Friday and Saturday night. By this point I was 29 and wanted to get away from the thick of things so I decided to move to Larkinville. I have been there ever sense. It s...

Something Needs to Change. / By: Siclari - Sports

I'm over draft picks and prospects. After last nights game the team lost me.                Something needs to change. I go back and forth on what that change should be? Trade everyone? Fire the coach? Bring players up from Rochester? November was fun. Going to the games was an event, the arena was alive and there was hope in the city again. A city that is starving for a playoff team, and a city that deserves a playoff team. The Sabres have the 2 pieces that are the hardest to get. An elite #1 center (Eichel) , a  #1 defenseman (Dahlin). On top of that, they also have a scoring winger (Skinner), so what is the problem? This season I have tried to look at the positives of this team. I think I hit my breaking point last night with their 4-1 loss to a bad devils team. I still believe the Sabres have players on the team that can be very good, the problem I am seeing is the system in which these players are asked to run. Buffalo is towards ...

New Emoji installment. Women: 1 / Men: 0 - By: Siclari / Pop Culture

Image
New Emoji's were released. Little did Apple know, they gave women a loaded weapon.  Well it happened gentleman. Without saying a word woman can take down men around the world.                 I am all about the new Emojis/2019 hieroglyphics including everyone, but I think Apple went too far with this new installment, specifically one. . .. Women have more power than ever now. Every time you say something stupid all they have to do is send 1 little (no pun intended) emoji and they win the argument.  Single men beware.  Married men beware.  With a single character women can make you question everything about your life.              Picture this. You’re at a bar and you meet a girl, you take her home. She leaves in the morning. You wake up, check your phone, and this is staring you in the face  Good Luck. . . .

Let’s take a quick look at the worst people in the world: Boston fans. - By: Brandon Siclari / Sports

Image
I hate them.                As we sit here this week depressed and awaiting our social media accounts to blow up with another Boston Championship parade, let’s not forget who is worse than the Patriots football team, their fans. I used to travel to Boston in the early 2000’s to visit my father. He was working there for 3 years. The city was amazing. I loved it. As I grew older, and I would like to say wiser. That hell hole of a place called Boston/New England area is a place I never want to see again.                 Due to their fans and sports teams, the whole city has turned into a dump to me, and I instantly hate everything about it. When the Blackhawks won all their Stanley cups, I never felt this way about Chicago. When the Yankees won multiple World Series, I never felt this way about New York City. I took a step back and realized it’s the fans, the most anno...
